Calls are answered by professionals trained to listen to your problems and give you information about resources available.

Our Information & Referral (I&R) service is the core of our services. We are the central clearinghouse for callers who need help "finding a way"  to contact the appropriate human service, basic needs and governmental agencies. Utilizing a fully computerized resource data base with over 3500 resources and public service agencies, our staff is able to connect individuals in need with the appropriate agency or services. Updated daily, this database is the most current and comprehensive in the area. Click here to access it.

- First Call For Help’s free services also include our Hotline -- a telephone support service. Our hotline at 1-800-468-4357 is answered 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by trained staff.

All calls are confidential. Our Hotline may be reached from anywhere in the state of Ohio. All telephone services are offered free of charge. The Hotline is also available to people who:

  • Are in crisis situations
  • Who need a word of encouragement
  • Who just need someone to listen
  • Who need help "finding a way" to cope.

The Hotline also provides telephone support to help callers through:

  • Personal problems
  • Emotional stress
  • Emergencies such as attempted suicides and drug overdoses.

First Call for Help provides easy, around-the-clock access to all types of resources that the residents of Defiance, Fulton, Henry, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert and Williams counties may need.
